Student’s Documentary Captures ‘Common Link’ Between Us: Humanity

Laila Knio, a senior psychology major who is graduating in May, has completely maximized her four years at NC State. Between her responsibilities as a Park scholar, avid traveler and pre-med student, she managed to create an entire film. "The Common Link" is a 45-minute documentary that chronicles the tales of eight different Lebanese people.

On a recent Wednesday, Humanities and Social Sciences student Kaitlin Fritz and Dean Jeff Braden spent the day side by side. Fritz, a senior English major and winner of the 2017 Side by Side with the Dean contest, got a glimpse at the inner-workings of the college while Braden experienced what it’s like to walk in a student’s shoes.

Alexandra Goodfred is a senior with anthropology and English majors, and a French minor. She interns with a Raleigh book publisher, is Anthropology Club president, and is in the Scholars Program. She has studied abroad in Thailand and the U.K., and looks forward to a career in publishing.
