The College of Humanities and Social Sciences welcomes a dozen new tenured and tenure-track faculty to its ranks for the 2017-2018 year. Their scholarship and research interests range from race and immigration to organizational health psychology and urban food systems of the ancient world.

Dean’s Scholar program expands
Aspiring to be osteoarchaeologists, federal prosecutors and museum curators, the latest cohort of Humanities and Social Sciences Dean’s Scholars have big plans for the future. Thanks to contributions from college donors, the seven recipients of this year’s Dean’s Scholar Award can also plan on being something else — experiential learners.

Engineers have their own way of talking about their work. Computer scientists often speak a different kind of code. Statisticians employ yet another specialized language. Get them all together and it can feel like a veritable Tower of Babel. That's why NC State’s Laboratory for Analytic Sciences invited experts in communication, social science, management and design to join them.
Four Named to CHASS Advisory Board
NC State's College of Humanities and Social Sciences welcomes four new members to its Board of Advisors. Three of the new members are NC State alumni; the fourth is a current student.
Three of Four 2013 Mathews Medalists are CHASS Students
Three of the four seniors receiving the Mathews Medal this year are CHASS students. The Mathews Medal is the highest non-academic distinction awarded to NC State students, and is reserved for those who have made significant contributions based on leadership and service.
CHASS Fest
Students, faculty, and staff filled the patio outside Caldwell Hall for CHASS Fest — a multidisciplinary celebration organized by the Dean's Office, the CHASS Council, and CHASS students.
