Ted Chiang was born in Port Jefferson, New York, and holds a degree in computer science from Brown University. His fiction has won three Hugos, four Nebulas, three Locus awards, the John W. Campbell, and Sturgeon awards. The title story of his New York Times bestselling collection The Story of Your Life and Others was made into the Oscar-winning film Arrival starring Amy Adams and directed by Denis Villeneuve, from a script by Eric Heisserer. He lives near Seattle, Washington.
