John Balaban’s essay “Zen in Vietnamese Poetry and Politics” was published recently in Translation Review, volume 93.

His essay “John Barth, Undergraduate Academic Advisor” is forthcoming in John Barth: A Body of Words (Dalkey Archive Press, May 2016).

Balaban’s poem “Anna Akhmatova Spends the Night on Miami Beach” appears in Poetry Ink, 20th Anniversary Anthology (Moonstone Arts Center, Philadelphia, 2016).

On March 19, Balaban gave a poetry reading with NC State MFA students at the North Carolina Poetry Society, Weymouth Center for the Arts and Humanities in Southern Pines.

On April 17, he gave a poetry reading and workshop — “Writing About the Personal in Poetry” — for the “Philly Loves Poetry” festival.
